CyberSTAR’s multilingual learning resources make the complex world of digital safety accessible. They’re designed for smaller civil society organizations (CSOs) that do not have IT departments to confront today’s growing digital threats. But their straightforward approach means these tools can help anyone looking to rapidly strengthen their resilience to digital harm.

CyberSTAR’s concise explainers and how-to guides tackle a spectrum of digital safety basics. Most can be absorbed in just a few minutes. Together, they tackle “low-hanging fruit” of digital safety—with practical steps that can immediately make people safer online.
The CyberSTAR team continues to expand its support for CSOs globally. As part of that, self-help resources are now available in eight languages—-English, Azeribaijani, Georgian, Romanian, Russian, Tajik, Ukrainian and Uzbek—with Arabic resources coming soon.
Supporting Ukraine’s Vital CSOs
Every day, CSOs are helping Ukrainians navigate the brutal fallout of war. Some provide humanitarian relief, from food and medical supplies to mental health support. Others are coordinating volunteers who repair damaged homes or coordinate community kitchens. Independent media are sharing people’s frontline realities with the wider world. In countless ways, CSOs are filling gaps in the state’s strained capacity to look after citizens.
Many of these groups are run by small numbers of dedicated staff and volunteers, generally with no in-house IT capacity. One reason they are able to have the impact they do is because of their use of digital tools. But relying on those tools also makes them vulnerable to digital threats—from data breaches to financial extortion—with devastating consequences.
Supporting small, at-risk CSOs is why CyberSTAR exists. We have teams on the ground that work with CSOs to assess their vulnerabilities, remediate critical risks, and train staff. But for every CSO entering a CyberSTAR program, countless more need support. That’s why we continue to grow our online library of self-self-help resources—now including these latest Ukrainian adaptations.
